Make an impact one imprint at a time

The collective talents of LSG

I was invited to speak at Loudoun School for the Gifted in Ashburn, VA earlier this week and it was such a fun experience. I was really nervous at first. Anyone that has ever had to speak to a room full of middle and high school students knows what I am talking about. The fear that you will bore them, the fear that they will tune you out. We did an exercise with the whole school to learn what makes them unique, and it was so great to see all of the different talents and interests that the students had. But the best part for me was seeing how they opened up and connected with me as the guest speaker. Just taking that moment to learn about them and what they liked and asking follow up questions showed them I sincerely was interested in learning about them. And that opened the door for conversation and innovation. After we finished that exercise, we started brainstorming a new fundraising event for One Sparrow and it was awesome to get such incredible ideas from them. I can’t wait to start planning the event we came up with together and finding ways to include the students in that process as well.
